THERE were eight point-to-point meetings in Britain last weekend and while the fast ground resulted in small fields, Irish-bred horses continued to rule the roost when it came to winners.

This was the case too at Friday’s hunters’ chase fixture in Cheltenham where all but one of the seven winners was bred in this country. The 2011 Fleetwood gelding Woodfleet, who landed the Connolly’s Red Mills Intermediate Point-To-Point Championship Final, was partnered by Ratoath’s Martin McIntyre.
