THE feeling that Lancaster House was a pattern-class performer was reinforced as he registered a commanding success in the Listed Edmond and Josie Whelan Memorial Listowel Stakes.

Unbeaten in three starts, Aidan O’Brien’s charge has come a long way in the five weeks since he made an impressive debut at Galway and he came through his biggest test to date with plenty to spare. The 7/4 favourite was burdened with a wide draw but turning for home he was ideally placed to pick off the front-running Wargrave. Lancaster House duly took his measure for a two-and-three-quarter-length triumph.
