IT was a day that will live long in the memory for jockey Simon Torrens as he notched up the most lucrative success of his career aboard Pat Fahy’s Drop The Anchor in the €75,000 Ladbrokes Where The Nation Plays Handicap Hurdle.

The jockey recorded a double on the day to equal his 11-winner tally from last season and his effort on the J.P. McManus-owned Drop The Anchor would suggest that he has a fine campaign to look forward to this winter. Drop The Anchor was having his first run since March and he was produced at the peak of his powers by Pat Fahy at a meeting where he won a bumper two years previously.
