LEADING rider Barry O’Neill recorded a double on the day, the first leg coming on board the David Christie-trained mare Maple Mons (1/3 favourite) when she landed the Minella Hotel Clonmel Mares Open.

Sent off a warm favourite, she never came off the bridle and cantered over the line a distance clear of her closest rival, Ballydarsi (6/1). Only four went to post to contest the open, three of which managed to finish.
