KEVIN Sexton made the headlines in the past week with his appointment as retained rider to Pat and Tilly Conway’s string of horses. The jockey lost his right to claim at Limerick on Sunday, where he partnered the popular Paddy Neville locally trained Shesaportrait to win the three-runner Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Mares Chase.

The daughter of Portrait Gallery made all in the two-mile, three-furlong race and while last season’s Galway Plate runner-up and 4/6 favourite Burn And Turn gave chase in the home straight, Shesaportrait battled well for a two and a quarter lengths win.
