A SUN-SOAKED Kirkistown hosted a rare late May fixture at the Co Down venue almost 15 years to the day of its introduction to the pointing calendar. Barry O’Neill marked his third northern title by signing off with a winner in the region aboard Rathmacknee for his principal supporter Colin Bowe.

The Jet Away gelding jumped well at the head of affairs as he took the field along at a good gallop in the five-year-old geldings’ maiden, and the Final Furlong Bloodstock-owned bay had built up enough of an advantage turning in to hold on for a share of the spoils with the unlucky-in-running Galunggung.
