Nikini should be hard to beat. She made a winning debut in a Ballinrobe bumper this time last year and went on to run well in some high class mares’ bumpers in the spring. She posted top four finishes in listed and Grade 3 events at the Fairyhouse and Punchestown Festivals – races in which she was closely involved at the finish – and that level of form puts her on a different footing to these rivals.

Freddie Robdal has been running to a reasonable standard and his third to Amir Kabir at Roscommon last time reads well in light of the latter’s subsequent listed second at Galway. He might give Nikini most to do.

A chance is taken on Mr McPhisto to follow up last month’s course and distance success. He had struggled somewhat to make an impression up to that point but ran out a well-backed winner and he gets the vote in the hope that there could be more to come from him, while a 4lbs rise in the weights for that looks manageable.

Cracklinrose was a three-quarter-length second to Mr McPhisto on that occasion and might give him most to do once more in a race where most of the runners seem to be struggling for form.

Esperti looks a solid option. He already holds a rating of 116 over hurdles and lines up off several solid runs in defeat. He was beaten 21 lengths into second in a maiden hurdle at Galway last week but that defeat came at the hands of Champ Kiely who looks a potentially high class recruit to jumping and there is nothing of that one’s ability in the line up.

Esperti is a solid option and can deal with Secret She Keeps who was third in a Wexford maiden last time but would be dangerous on the form of her third in a Leopardstown maiden won by Howyabud last Christmas.

A chance is taken on Agusta Gold who is getting a decent weight concession from several of her rivals. She has not been in best of form lately but at her best she is a very smart mare and it isn’t all that long since she ran quite respectably in a reasonable staying handicap chase at the Punchestown Festival. She is tipped in the hope that she can make her confirmed stamina count against the former Champion Hurdle third Darver Star.

The latter’s form makes him a standout here and he lines up off a creditable second to Whiskey Sour in a conditions hurdle at Cork but this trip is an unknown.

Clonmoyle could be interesting. She only has four previous chase runs to her name and she represents a yard in tremendous heart. Her last two handicap chase runs were respectable but leave her with a bit to find. However, there is a chance this lightly-raced mare has more to offer and she did win a beginners’ chase at Tramore back in April.

An obvious threat is the top-weight Pairc Na Ngael who is looking to build on a second to Balinaboola Steel in a handicap chase at Limerick last month.

Jack Hackett has put together a series of fine runs at this track over a variety of distances and he looks good enough to defy top-weight. He is 7lbs higher than when winning over a slightly longer trip than this at this track two months ago and he showed that he remains in fine heart by finishing a good third to Waitnsee and Rock Road in a handicap hurdle here last month.

He can deal with Arrycan who has put together a series of solid runs, the most recent of which yielded a third to Balinaboola Steel at Limerick a couple of weeks ago.

Leitrim Park looks like the obvious starting point. Her yard has been enjoying an outstanding run in bumpers lately and her debut third to Miss Fourie at Limerick in April would suggest a bumper of this nature is within her grasp.

It wouldn’t shock if she were given most to do by stablemate Hermine who is a daughter of Authorized and is a half-sister to several useful winners. Wisteria Bloom is another newcomer of note from a top yard.
