GERMAN eventing super-star Michael Jung added yet another major title to his list of triumphs, when he won the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials last Sunday with La Biosthetique Sam. The result saw Jung finish as runner-up in the FEI Classics series which was won by another German rider, Ingrid Klimke.

Thirty-three-year–old Jung was the first rider in history to hold Olympic, World and European titles simultaneously and he added the Burghley title to his collection, after a perfect clear jumping round with La Biosthetique Sam, a 15-year-old gelding by the sire Stan The Man out of a dam by Heraldik. Jung finished the opening dressage phase in seventh place on a score of 39.2 but a hugely influential cross-country competition saw the German move into the lead when he added just 0.8 time penalties.
