HAVING been stood down from covering mares in March 2019, and following his death later that summer, the 13 yearlings by Deep Impact on offer at the JRHA Select Yearling Sale this week were a near final opportunity to buy a son or daughter of the multiple champion.

Twelve of the 13 sold, and eight of them were among the top 10 prices achieved among the yearlings who were sold on the first day of trading. An early indication of what was to come was heralded by the arrival in the ring of a Deep Impact daughter of the Grade 1 Brea Stakes winner Teddy’s Promise. The half-sister to Group 3 winner My Rhapsody was bought by Kieffers Co Ltd for US$2,242,991, the highest price for a yearling filly.
