JONATHAN Moore travels to Market Rasen today to ride for trainer Rebecca Curtis but he hopes to maintain his Irish links through the winter if his schedule allows.

Moore was appointed stable jockey to the Curtis yard in May, shortly after he had ridden a Punchestown winner for the yard. He has already ridden seven winners for the yard in Britain this season but remains based in Ireland for the moment.

He explained: “Rebecca does not have many runners at the moment and I am still getting plenty of rides at home, so I have not moved across to Wales yet. It’s possible I won’t live there permanently, but if the travelling becomes too much I will definitely move.”

Moore continues to ride out for trainer Noel Meade two days a week and hope to continue that association even though Meade has appointed Sean Flanagan as his stable jockey, replacing the retired Paul Carberry.

Jockey Shane Shortall has also left Ireland to take up a position with Scottish dual-purpose trainer Iain Jardine.

Shortall, who won the 2014 Galway Plate on the Meade-trained Road To Riches, said: “Iain and I have enjoyed quite a bit of success together in a relatively short space of time and, after travelling back and forth for the past few months, the time now feels right to make the move.”
