JUST when it seemed that we had got through the worst of the winter weather things took a turn for the worse. The Kilkenny meeting gave me my first sight of the tractor men in serious action this year and then Farmacaffley gave them even more work.

Luckily, I spotted a window of opportunity to get out of the car park after the fourth race and was able to pick a good line to the exit gate and drive out unaided and then parked on the road to see the final two races but soon that gateway was at a stand-still due largely to (a) drivers not taking a correct line, (b) drivers too heavy on the accelerator, and (c) people assuming that four-wheel drive means that they will automatically be able to get out unaided.
