FOR the fifth consecutive weekend, Tokyo racecourse was yet again venue for a Group 1 race on June 1st. This time for the 69th running of the Yasuda Kinen which is contested over a mile for three-year-olds and upwards.

Heading the entries was the darling of racing in Japan, Almond Eye, who was making her 2019 reappearance in the JRA. Unanimous winner of Horse of the Year title in 2018, Almond Eye was last seen when emphatically winning the nine-furlong Group 1 Dubai Turf at Meydan in her first run overseas.
