LAEL Stables is the racing operation of Pennsylvania-based breeders Roy and Gretchen Jackson. The Jacksons are best known as the owner-breeders of undefeated 2006 Kentucky Derby winner Barbaro, who died from complications resulting from laminitis that developed following injuries sustained in the Preakness Stakes.

We would probably best know them on this side of the world as the breeders of George Washington, another ill-fated but highly talented runner. He only got a single mare in foal at stud before returning to race, sadly meeting his end at the Breeders’ Cup.
