FOLLOWING the dreadful weather endured during Tyrella (1), owner Lawrence Patterson departed these shores for Australia to take part in the FIH 2016 Masters Hockey World Cup in Canberra.

A member of the over 45 squad, Lawrence played in all of Ireland’s four matches in the Round Robin stage between March 29th and April 4th but, disappointingly, the team had only the one success, that coming last Saturday when they beat Scotland 3-2. Hockey wasn’t the only non-horsey sport mentioned at Tyrella (2) where it wasn’t surprising to learn that, even though son Tommy is still undergoing rehabilitation on a knee injury, Ann Bowe was at Ravenhill in Belfast on Friday night to see Ulster beat Connacht.
