IRISH stables looks set to make a strong challenge for the big races at Arlington this weekend with a five runners among the pre-entries all having a good chance of taking home a share of the prize money.

David Marnane’s consistent Elleval is the sole Irish runner in the Grade 1 Arlington Million. Though it's a step up to Grade 1 level, he could well be involved as it does not appear to the the strongest field with Grade 1 winners Slumber and Big Blue Kitten along with last year's American St Leger winner The Pizza Man the leading home contenders.

British interest comes from Belgian Bill for George Baker and Maverick Wave for John Gosden. Mikael Delzanges sends Bookrunner from France.

The best chance of an Irish winner may come from the Aidan O’Brien-trained Highland Reel in the Grade 1 Secretariat Stakes after his win last time out in the Gordon Stakes at Goodwood. The Galileo colt will be bidding to follow up Adelaide’s win for the stable last year. O'Brien also won the Grade 1 contest with Treasure Beach in 2011 and Ciro in 2000. Other European interest comes from the German-trained Goldstream (Andreas Wohler) and War Dispatch (Jean Claude-Rouget) for France.

Dermot Weld’s Carla Bianca joins the Aidan O’Brien-trained Wedding Vow in a strong Irish challenge for the Beverly D Stakes where last year’s winner Euro Charlene bids for a repeat win for Marco Botti. Secret Gesture trained by Ralph Beckett, fourth in the Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh last time, completes a very strong British challenge.

Andy Oliver’s multiple winner Panama Hat, owned by Team Valor, is the sole Irish runner in the Grade 3 American St Leger where Lucky Speed represents Germany.
