THE Irish Pony Club has four mounted games teams competing in Britain this weekend, with the first having travelled over earlier this week to the Royal Bath & West Show in Somerset which concludes today (Saturday).

There, under the guidance of chef d’équipe Chris Ahearne and trainer Michael Finn and competing as a Laois Hunt Branch team, the IPC has been represented by Megan Adams (Laois), Conor Buckley (Carlow), Isabel Byrne (Shillelagh and District), George O’Callaghan (Tipperary) and Daniel Callery (Meath).

Three IPC teams are in action today and tomorrow at a competition in Scotland which is being hosted by the Eglinton Pony Club.

Riding as a Wexford Hunt Branch team, with trainer Lorna Whelan, are Emily Feehan (Laois), Robyn Gahan Darcy (Shillelagh), Jodie Foley (Carlow), Ross Warren (Wexford) and Sadhbh Monaghan (Meath). Riding as a Shillelagh and District Hunt Branch team, with trainer Aidan O’Hanlon, are Sophie Cosgrave (Shillelagh), Daniel Collins (Shillelagh), Pippa Blake (Carlow), Mia Twomey (Kildare) and Isobel Dermody (Galway Mid-County).

Also representing the IPC in Scotland is the Wicklow Branch team who won the Under 10s’ final at last year’s IPC Festival in Barnadown. Led by trainer Mary Molloy, the quintet comprises Matilda Wall, Nell McDonnell, Ellie Sheane, Louis Smith and Laragh Molloy.

A squad of 38 IPC members, led by John Flood, is also lining-out in the weekend’s Junior international tetrathlon competition in Moreton Morrell, Warwickshire.
