THE Meath Branch has edged into a single point lead in the Irish Pony Club senior mounted games league following its win at the Stradbally Family Fair and National Hound Show last Sunday which brought its tally up to 27.

This was a second success in the series for the Meaths who also won at Gorey in mid-June before placing fourth at Charleville where the Laois Branch took the 10 points on offer for first place.

The Laois only picked up five points on Sunday and are now lying third on 23 behind Tipperary whose third place finish at Stradbally has them on a total of 26.

The Shillelagh Branch, which is currently fourth in the senior league on 20 points, holds a healthy lead in the pairs’ competition on 27 points ahead of Cork (21) and Meath (20).

The fourth and final leg of the league takes place at the Carnew & District Agricultural Show on Saturday next, July 16th.
