UNQUESTIONABLY the pinnacle of Gordon Elliott’s season came at Aintree in April as the diminutive yet hugely charismatic Tiger Roll cemented his position as one of the greats with a second Grand National triumph.

The burning question over the coming months will be the gelding’s quest for a third success at Aintree but that is a discussion for another day. The nine-year-old’s career is one in which the extraordinary has become utterly routine.
