THERE were 13 teams in the Intermediate section of last weekend’s Connolly’s Red Mills/Irish Pony Club national eventing championships at Tattersalls where, despite what sounded like a lot of trouble on the cross-country course on Sunday, only two squads failed to complete.

The clear-cut winners, on a total of 105.3 penalties, were the Kildare White quartet of Ella Butler on the 12-year-old skewbald gelding Lenovo, Emily Martin riding the 14-year-old bay gelding Tintreach Bain, Alice O’Sullivan with the Irish Sport Horse mare Carrigshawn Doctro, a six-year-old bay by Dondoctro Ryal K, and Jessica Reid who, on 27.5 penalties comfortably won Arena 2 and its dressage rosette with Bella Dona Diamond, a nine-year-old mare by Diamond Valley Prince.
