THE third round of the Global Champions Tour and League took place in Shanghai last weekend, with Irish riders faring well despite not making it to the podium in the feature classes.

It was Belgium’s Gregory Wathelet and the lovely grey mare Coree who won the feature Global Champions Tour at the beautiful venue, set to the backdrop of the Shanghai skyline. This victory in China handed Wathelet the third golden ticket to the Longines Global Champions Super Grand Prix at the new GC Prague Play Offs in December, where he will line up against Miami Beach winner Edwina Tops-Alexander and hero of the curtain raiser in Mexico City, Scott Brash.
