TIPPERARY young rider Max Wachman finished third in last Sunday’s two-star 1.45m Grand Prix at the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Florida. He guided Coolmore Showjumping’s 11-year-old gelding Berlux Z to one of just five clears in the 12-horse jump-off, breaking the beams in 39.85 seconds.

Offaly’s Kevin Mealiff sloted into sixth place with Deleyn (0/4 38.22), while Max’s younger brother Tom Wachman finished with on Lazzaro delle Schiave (0/4 39.21). Earlier in the week, Tom and Lazzaro were runners-up in the $37,000 Helgstrand Jewellery 1.45m.

Both Wachman brothers were members of the team that finished runner-up in the $25,000 Hermès Under 25 Team Event. They were joined on ‘Team Foreigners’ by Ansgar Holtgers Jr. (USA) and Britain’s Grace Debney.
