KILDARE show jumper Niall Talbot finished third in the two-star Grand Prix at MET Oliva in Spain last Sunday. Riding the 14-year-old gelding Caracter, Talbot was one of 10 from the startlist of 63 combinations, to make it through to the timed round in the 1.45m class, the final of the 2018 tour.

His clear round in a time of 39.13 was good enough to see him collect €4,500. Mayo’s Alex Duffy also made it through to the jump-off with the Irish Sport Horse WCE Cruco (Cruising x Darco) but eight faults saw him finish eighth. Britain’s Matthew Sampson won the class aboard Ebolensky.
