THE Spring Met Tour in Oliva proved to a happy event for Jenny Rankin as she not only celebrated her 21st birthday but was best of the Irish contingent when finishing fourth in the 1.40m class last weekend. Riding Beech Hill Lucia, she delivered a clear in 44.82, just over two seconds slower than the winner Willem Greve (Elien) in 42.22.

Earlier in the week, Lucinda Roche and Hebe Van’ T Palmenhof finished second in the 1.20m bronze tour. Roche was back in the ribbons when she took the runner-up spot with WCE Falco in the 1.40 table A, clear in 69.61, less than a second off the winner, Christiane Boos (Chazar). Roche went one better last Saturday when she took the honours in the 1.30m bronze tour with Hebe Van’T Palmenhof when clocking 56.03.
