KILDARE’s Mikey Pender (19) placed second in last Saturday’s feature 1.45m class at the three-star show in Vilamoura, Portugal. Riding Miguel Bravo’s eight-year-old Irish Sport Horse HHS Burnchurch (Heritage Fortunas x Cavalier Royale), Pender jumped a clear round against the clock in 40.75 seconds to collect €5,000 in the 12-horse jump-off. Victory went to Frenchman Olivier Guillon and Vitot du Chateau (0/0 40.27).

Pender picked up another runner-up finish in Friday’s three-star 1.40m Table A with the eight-year-old mare Elle van Overis Z (Echo van’t Spieveld x Darco). The combination were clear in 60.38 seconds.
