Aidan Killeen third in Vilamoura Grand Prix

AIDAN Killeen finished third in the three-star Grand Prix at Vilamoura, Portugal last Sunday. He guided Prime Equipment Ltd’s 11-year-old Irish Sport Horse Inlaws Orinoco (Harlequin du Carel x Oklund) to one of just five first round clears and picked up four faults against the clock in 39.92 seconds. Luxembourg’s Victor Bettendorf produced the only clear against the clock to win with Simolo de La Roque Z.

Swail runner-up in

California on Theo 160

CONOR Swail was runner-up in the three-star Grand Prix at the Desert International Horse Park in California last weekend. Swail, who is alternating between California and Florida, rode Team Philippaerts’ 11-year-old gelding Theo 160 to one of just three clears against the clock, finishing second behind Australia’s Katie Laurie with Django II.

Also winning at the venue was James Chawke who is making a run for several of the enticing rider bonuses and prizes to be awarded at the venue. With his own Gamble, a 12-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding (Campbell VDL x Quick Star), Chawke won the Marshall & Sterling $30,000 1.40m Open Classic.
