IRELAND’s Darragh Kenny put in a spectacular performance to claim victory in Saturday’s five-star Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Monaco to take home the top prize of almost €100,000 for his efforts.

Riding the Heathman Farm and Lorcan Gallagher-owned Idalville d’Esprit, which he only began campaigning in April, they were one of just six combinations to jump clear in the opening round of the 1.60m course. Taking advantage of a late draw, a clear in 37.89 seconds saw them lift the trophy. This win in the GCL Grand Prix means Kenny has booked his place in the Prague Super Grand Prix final later this year.
