SLIGO show jumper Richard Howley (26) landed the biggest win of his career last Sunday when galloping to victory in the €150,000 five-star Grand Prix at the Spanish Nations Cup show in Gijon.

Riding his partner Morgan Kent’s 10-year-old mare Dolores (Berlin x Voltaire), Howley was one of 13 combinations to make it through to the 1.60m jump-off, which also included Limerick’s Paul Kennedy and his Irish Sport Horse mare Cartown Danger Mouse as the fastest combination with four faults.
