Harry Allen third in Dutch Grand Prix

WEXFORD’s Harry Allen finished third in the two-star Grand Prix in Kronenberg, The Netherlands last Sunday.

In a class with 61 starters, 13 made it through to the jump-off where eight combinations went on to produce a second clear against the clock.

Allen rode the eight-year-old gelding Calculatus to a clear in 41.41 second to slot into third place and earn €3,825 in prize money. Victory went to Italy’s Giampiero Garofalo with Gaspahr (0/0 39.52).

Diarmuid Howley won Friday’s two-star 1.45m at the venue with Be Aperle VA. The pair were the fastest of 14 clear rounds in 59.49 seconds to pick up €1,000 in prize money, pipping Austria’s Feliz Koller and Calisto W into second place.

Shane O’Meara also picked up a victory on Friday when riding the nine-year-old mare Ikaberlina RV to win the 1.40m Table A by almost two seconds in 52.84. USA’s Julie Welles finished second with Cissro van Birthe Z. the previous day, O’Meara was fourth with Ici in the 1.45m jump-off class.

Bonheiden win for Jessica Burke

GALWAY show jumper Jessica Burke won last Thursday’s two-star 1.40m Table A in Bonheiden, Belgium.

From 89 starters, the British-based rider guided the nine-year-old mare Inpulss, owned by Louisa Church, to victory when fastest of 23 clear rounds in 64.83 seconds.

The following day, Burke was fifth in the 1.40m aboard Ashdale Divine when double clear in 39.10. Belgium’s Joroen de Winter was the winner in 36.98 seconds.
