WITH no five-star shows taking place across the world of show jumping last week, Sunday’s four-star Grand Prix in Vilamoura was front and centre, where victory went to Switzerland’s Bryan Balsiger and Twentytwo des Biches.

Some 45 riders started over the 1.55m course, with nine of those making it through to the jump-off. Galway’s Michael Duffy missed out a place against the clock when picking up a time fault with his own and HMF Equestrian’s nine-year-old gelding Jeff Ten Halven to finish 10th. None of the other four Irish riders had any luck.
