Irish score top places at Chard

THERE was a good Irish representation at the two-star show in Chard, Britain, last weekend. In Friday’s 1.35m, Eoin Gallagher secured a fourth place finish with the stallion I Love You M when they delivered a clear in 34.40 seconds. Later in the day in the 1.40m, Trevor Breen took sixth place with Gonzalo; they kept all the poles in place in a time of 31.76. On the same day, Anthony Condon also featured in the prize giving, claiming fourth with the seven-year-old Ashdale Allstar in the CSIYH1* when clear in 36.97. On Saturday, Billy Twomey and the seven-year-old stallion Ace Of Hearts Z took fourth place in the CSIYH1* when they delivered a clear in 37.62.

Eoin McMahon runner-up in Germany

CLARE’s Eoin McMahon was runner-up in the three-star 1.55m Grand Prix in Hagen, Germany, last Sunday. McMahon rode his Nations Cup mount Chakra 9. The Irish rider earned €10,520 when he slotted into second place behind German winner Patrick Stühlmeyer and Drako de Maugre. McMahon is based at Ludger Beerbaum’s Riesenbeck International.
