TIPPERARY’s Kevin Babington won the four-star WEF Challenge Cup during week four of the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Florida, last Thursday.

Riding the ever-young 17-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding Mark Q (by OBOS Quality), Babington was one of six clears from 65 entries over the first round of the 1.45m track. Second last to go against the clock, the John and Barbra Walshe-bred gelding broke the beam in 40.03 seconds, over four seconds faster than the previous leader, USA’s Carly Anthony.
