Four-star win for Ciaran Nallon

MAYO’s Ciaran Nallon won a four-star 1.40m in Vejer de la Frontera, Spain, last Sunday. Riding the Ashford Farm-bred eight-year-old mare Showoff AF Z, he was the best of 30 clear rounds in 27.49 seconds.

Nallon is based at Cameron Hanley’s Whitehart Farm in Germany. Third in the class was Dermott Lennon with the Irish-bred Anthem In My Heart, who has no recorded breeding, in a time of 30.18 seconds.

That combination were runners-up in Friday’s 1.40m two-phase, just behind Sweden’s Sofia Westbord and F Termie R12.

Shane Carey third in German Grand Prix

LIMERICK’s Shane Carey placed third in the two-star Grand Prix at Riesenbeck, Germany, last Sunday. Riding Skorphults Baloutendro, he was among 10 clears in the 16-horse jump-off, breaking the beam in 33.86 seconds to earn €4,050. Victory went to Germany’s Michael Symmangk with Caillaux (0/0 33.19).
