IRISH youngsters continued to clock up good results last weekend at the Peelbergen CSI Youth Festival in The Netherlands.

On Friday Kara Madden took a runner-up finish in the Horse Service International Prix CSI U25 1.20m. Riding Maverick she lodged a clear in 63.05 seconds. This was the second good result for this pairing having been placed third the day before in the Pikeur Eskadron Prix CSI U25 1.20m.

On Saturday morning Wexford’s Maisie Adams and Foran Daylight took the runner-up place in the CSIP two phase 1.15m when they delivered a clear in 27.72. Further down the line in sixth place was Sadhbh Slattery and Ballinamurra Josh who was also clear in 29.47, ahead of Matthew Farrell and Maifield Another Sunrise in 29.74. In ninth place was Isobel Sheehan with Knockrode Clore Mor, clear in 30.08.

In the later CSICh-A two-phases 1.10m, best of the Irish squad was Gary Dooley and Quinta S5 when they delivered a clear in 39.55. Abbie Oakey and Cinnickroodnoot were fastest of the four-faulters in a time of 31.64.

Isobel Sheehan returned to the line-up to take sixth place in the EquiHome Prix - CSICh-A Two Phases 1.20m, when she partnered Ahare Olympic Flemmencio to a clear in 37.62.

On Sunday, Seamus Hennessy put in a great performance as he delivered a clear with King Louis in the PSC Lichtenvoorde Prix - CSIJ-A Grand Prix 1.40m to finish fourth. The Cork rider was one of just nine to book their place in the jump-off and he was one of five double clears.

Further down the line was Conor McLaughlin and Kilbarron Rue who had one down in the first round for 10th place.

McLaughlin and Kilbarron Rue had gotten off to the perfect start earlier in the week when winning the 1.35m jump-off on Thursday. The pair were the fastest of seven clear rounds in 31.60 seconds. Seamus Hennessy finished third with King Louis in 33.22 seconds.

In the Prestige Renaissance Prix – CSI Ch-A Grand Prix 1.25m, Emily Moloney added to her record when she took fifth place with GVS Goodwins Queen, when they had four faults in the second round in 32.65. Fellow Kilkenny rider Isobel Sheehan and Ahare Olympic Flemmencio took ninth when they had one on the ground in 67.69.

In the final Havens Horsefeed Prix - CSIP Grand Prix Table A 1.30m, Sarah Fitzgerald and Moores Pride were best of the Irish in eighth place. They had one down in the jump-off in 31 seconds. Ellen Power filled the next spot when she had two down in the jump-off with Carrigeen Moores in 28.46. Britain’s Tabitha Kyle was the winner and runner-up in the class. Kyle is the daughter of Irish eventing Olympian Mark Kyle.
