William Buick is hoping Quorto can emulate his sire by landing the Goffs Vincent O’Brien National Stakes at the Curragh on September 16th.

The unbeaten Charlie Appleby-trained juvenile has not been seen since scorching to victory in the Superlative Stakes at Newmarket on just his second outing.

DUBAWI

His sire, Dubawi, landed the Newmarket group 2 before heading to Ireland to win the first group 1 of his career in 2004. He is now a leading stallion.

“He’s had a nice break since the Superlative and on the racecourse he’s done nothing wrong,” Buick told Horse Racing Ireland.

“I thought he was impressive in the Superlative, obviously he’s very well bred and he looks the part.

“Obviously it’s a bit early to say exactly what he will be against, but he’s a very exciting horse and he’s done everything right.

“He has a lot of speed and so far he’s done everything his father has done in going to the National, and if he can be as good as his father then we’ll be okay.”
