KILBRIN is steeped in the lore of Duhallow and what a rich story it has to tell. It was the ancestral home of Dr Croke (b. 1825), archbishop of Cashel and Emly, who gave his name to Croke Park. The Crokes were land agents for the Wrixon-Becher family of Becher’s Brook fame.

The family were founders of the Duhallow around 1745, making it the oldest fox hunt in the country. Hounds were kennelled for many years in Castlecor and the connection with the original family continued right up to 1959 with the passing of Adelaide Barry in her 80s, then the oldest member of Duhallow.
