AGAINST the backdrop of a constant debate over ‘bricks and mortar’ Irish studs competing with online shopping, Horse Sport Ireland’s latest stallion inspections will be held next week in Cavan.

The current inspection format began there in 2010 and a range of stallions have subsequently received full or partial approval for the sport horse, Irish Draught and pony markets. The level of support received by successful candidates has varied. Some have concentrated on competition careers, some were gelded or sold abroad.
