THE Louth Foxhounds nurture hunting tradition, and sporting values. The opening meet was held at the Filgate/Angel family sporting estate Lisrenny near Ardee, hosted by Jane Angel and her team. Followers were provided with a range of refreshments that would be worthy of any upmarket hostelry, supplied in a candy-striped marquee on the lawn beside the Mistresses’ Garden where the annual Puppy Show is held.

The estate is steeped in hunting history with well-managed woods and coverts for wildlife, many that also have pheasant runs, and are usually not disturbed until the opening meet of the season. On the day, the estate was a hive of activity with farm machinery humming, as every field has a purpose whether it is a crop, or in grass.
