THE Association of Irish Racecourse Vets (AIRCV) held their annual seminar and AGM in Goffs on December 17th, 2019. The event was open to members and non-members. The association also welcomed veterinary surgeons involved in point-to-point duty and those aspiring to racecourse and point-to-point duty in the future. The seminar was kindly sponsored by Molloy Veterinary (Gary Molloy).

Chairman and one of the founding members Ned O’Flynn gave the opening address where he discussed welfare and the objectives of the AIRCV. The association was founded in 1999 so 2019 was their 20th year: “Welfare was our priority then and it is still is our priority now, but there is a different perception of welfare today. Horses aren’t going any faster, you don’t see world records being broken every other day. We are still doing the same job we were 20 years ago. Things have definitely improved a lot in that time, but we still have further to go.”
