NEIL Callan has lodged an appeal against the suspension he received last week from the Hong Kong Jockey Club which rules him out of riding until the end of the season there in mid-July.

From Kildare, Callan (42) has spent eight successful years riding in Hong Kong but his status as a licensed jockey in the territory has been in doubt ever since a routine stewards’ inquiry at Happy Valley in February when Callan, who was fined and suspended for careless riding, is reported to have been disrespectful to officials.
