HAVING recently moved into a new yard and sent out our first ever juvenile winner during the summer, it’s exciting times here at Ross O’Sullivan Racing. I have been part of the team here for the last two years, so am thrilled to be involved with such a progressive, up and coming young trainer.

My early interest in horses both started and finished when I was just six years old. I had a pony as a child but riding didn’t really appeal to me back then, so I gave it up for a time. Six years later, a friend taught me how to ride horses properly and from then on I couldn’t stay away. At 14, I got a weekend/summer job with Michael Halford; something that turned out to be a great learning experience. The likes of Shane Foley, Conor Hoban, Sean Corby and Conor McGovern were all based in the yard at the time. Initially I went in just to muck out but after about six months I was allowed to ride out some of the older horses. From there, I moved on to riding out four to five lots a day, on those mornings that I was able to come in. I remained in school until I finished my Leaving Cert then turned my attention to college.
