THE year 2019 is proving to be one of the veteran horse. Last Sunday the 13-year old Meadowbranch Demon reeled off a 1.57 win in a division of the newly-devised All-Ireland series, which has a combined pot over €20,000. The various breed societies are constantly extolling the toughness of pacers and trotters, and here we have a prime example.

The black son of The Cammissioner has now won races in 11 consecutive seasons. One of the oldest horses has one of the youngest drivers with the cool Luke Kelleher doing the steering. Luke had a front-running double on the day as Pan Am Kolt also enjoyed a pillar-to-post win.
