HARNESS racing moved from the main track in Portmarnock to the provinces last weekend. The flat ‘cornfield’ at Manch, near Dunmanway was the setting in the south for a well-promoted meeting in memory of ‘Red John’ O’Donovan, a trainer and driver taken tragically young by an accident at home. Red John would have been proud of the competitive fare on offer, although his brother Michael was out of luck with Mr Security.
