THE hugely talented Nichols Canyon brought his tally of victories over hurdles to eight when he added the Grade 1 Morgiana Hurdle to his already impressive roll of honour in that sphere, emerging from the fog to comprehensively beat Jer’s Girl. Apart from unseating Ruby Walsh on one occasion he has finished in the frame on all his other starts over hurdles.

Don’t forget that the former John Gosden inmate, now with champion trainer Willie Mullins, won three times on the flat, and two of these were in listed races. They were the Noel Murless Stakes at Ascot and the Prix Denisy at Saint-Cloud. He was Group 3 placed in the St Simon Stakes on his penultimate start for Gosden.
