THERE was no shortage of lively bidding at Saturday’s Goresbridge Supreme Sale of Show Jumping Foals at the Irish Breeders’ Classic at Barnadown where two embryos fetched just over €30,000 between them while a smashing Casall filly topped the 2020 renewal at €18,000 for vendor Joe Allen.

Goresbridge auctioneer Martin Donohoe said afterwards: “We were very satisfied with the sale, it was very strong and there was plenty of interest, both around the ring and online. Two very strong Casalls topped the sale for both the filly and colt divisions. There was plenty of customers there for the right foal with the right pedigree. If you have what the market wants, there’s good customers for them. Unfortunately we had four that did not sell and we would have loved to have sold them all but there was more positives than anything else throughout.’’
