THE Goffs Group has announced revised dates for the Doncaster Breeze-Up and Spring Sales, and the Goffs Land Rover Sale due to the unprecedented circumstances surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic.

Tattersalls has also published new dates for its Ascot, Craven and Guineas Breeze-Up Sales.

The Goffs UK Breeze-Up, which was set to take place on April 22nd-23rd, will be delayed to either June 13th-14th or June 14th-15th, the eve of Royal Ascot, assuming that the Royal meeting goes ahead on the traditional dates.

To accommodate the Breeze-Up on these dates, the Goffs London Sale will be suspended for one year. The venue for the Breeze-Up Sale is yet to be announced but Goffs is in discussions to confirm the location with the intention that it is close to London.

The amalgamated Tattersalls Craven and Ascot Breeze Sale, which had been scheduled to take place in Newmarket from April 29th to May 1st, will now be postponed until Wednesday May 27th to Friday, May 29th at the earliest, with an additional to Wednesday, June 10th set aside as another possible option if required.

The Tattersalls Guineas Breeze Up and Horses in Training Sale, which had been pencilled in for May 27th-29th, will now be amalgamated into the July Sale week.

At this stage, it is the intention that the Tattersalls Ireland Goresbridge Breeze Up Sale will take place as planned on Friday, May 22nd, with the two-year-olds breezing at Fairyhouse on Thursday, May 21st.

Store sales

The Goffs UK Spring Sale of stores and HIT/Point-to-Pointers and the Goffs Land Rover Sale for three-year-old stores will now be held in the weeks commencing July 27th and August 3rd respectively.

Spring and Land Rover Sale vendors will shortly receive a revised timetable in relation to entry deadlines, pedigree proofs and catalogue publication.

Goffs “hope and intend” that their programme of yearling sales in Kildare and Doncaster will go ahead as scheduled. Yearling inspections are being planned for May, “subject to government directives, and, when underway, will adhere to strict protocols to protect the well-being of Goffs clients and staff.”

‘Uncertain times’

Announcing the revised sales schedule, Goffs Group chief executive Henry Beeby said: “In these uncertain times we must plan as best we can but accept that time is going to be required before any degree of normality returns to our lives.

“We do not feel it would be sensible to attempt to sell any category until such time as racing returns in some form in the UK and/or Ireland.”
