FOR the second year in a row, the opening session of the Goffs Orby Sale was headed by a Galileo own-sister to Alice Springs. She was sold for €2.2 million on a day which returned a decent set of figures albeit ones that couldn’t quite match those from last year.

Once again it was the top of the market where trade was strongest, as evidenced by three seven-figure lots and 11 yearlings making €400,000 or more, and the sale steadily gathered momentum over the course of the day.
