THE very best was saved until very last on the second and concluding day of the Goffs Orby Sale as John Ferguson forked out €1.4m for a son of Dubawi and the French 1000 Guineas heroine Beauty Parlour.

This colt was the centerpiece of the Wildenstein Stables Ltd dispersal and was the last yearling to pass under the hammer at this year’s Orby. From the moment the catalogue was released this colt appealed as a potential sale-topper and he duly lived up to expectations as he became the subject of a protracted battle between Ferguson and representatives of the American outfit White Birch Farm with the pair exchanging bids in measured fashion from €750,000 onwards.
