IN-FORM rider Ger Fox, who had some nice mounts lined up for Galway, had the misfortune to break his collarbone in a fall from Orion’s Might in the second race at Wexford last Friday and will be sidelined for three to four weeks as a result.

Compounding the Meathman’s misery Fox missed out on a winner just an hour later when Brian Cawley successfully deputised for him on Dedoctorsdaughter in the Easyfix Rubber Products Mares Beginners Chase.

Taking over from Katie Do on the run to the penultimate fence the recent Tipperary casualty stretched clear before the last to score by three lengths for the eight member Wildcats Syndicate from Nenagh.

The 9/1 shot’s trainer Denis Hogan was at home saving hay but Cawley remarked: “She was entitled to that on her form and she has been consistent all along. It was probably a weak contest but I was on a fit and healthy horse and she took three lengths out of them at the second last.”
