THE racing resumption in Germany was worth waiting for when Hanover had three listed races on the card and both Cologne and Hoppegarten staged group races, including important classic trials.

Of course, the fixture list has had to be adapted – in fact three fixtures in the previous week, which were hoping to go ahead, had to be cancelled after the authorities refused permission – and at the moment we have a revised fixture list which sees the Mehl-Mülhens-Rennen (2000 Guineas) run at Cologne on Whit Monday, June 1st (instead of this Sunday), the 1000 Guineas at Düsseldorf on June 21st (instead of 7th), and the German Derby on July 12th, a week later than originally planned, and the six-day meeting reduced to three days.
