GERMANY was the first major European nation to resume racing after the lockdown started in March, and for the fourth successive weekend all went well. Main features were the Group 2 Diana Trial at Hoppegarten on Sunday and the Group 2 Mehl-Mülhens-Rennen (German 2000 Guineas) at Cologne on Whit Monday.

There was a slight movement towards normality in that owners (maximum two per horse) and race club members are now allowed on to the course, subject to the usual hygiene and social distancing conditions. Face masks have to be worn in enclosed areas, such as the weigh room, but are only recommended, rather than compulsory, in the open spaces of the racecourse.
